Little Hands OT: Providing Paediatric Occupational Therapy in Canberra since 2015
At Little Hands, we provide paediatric occupational therapy for children with disabilities or developmental delay.
WHO WE HELP
We most commonly work with children aged from 0 to 6 years old, with conditions such as:
We may continue to support your child for many years, sometimes up until they enter high school. This continuity of care means we know the entire family and can work closely on options which are feasible for you.

Our Paediatric Occupational Therapy Services
Every child has individual therapy sessions with an occupational therapist. The program for these sessions is individually tailored for your child. In collaboration with you, we set and work towards goals which will make a real difference in your child’s life. If appropriate, your child is able to join one or more of our group intervention programs at some point. This may be to practise skills they have learned in one-on-one sessions, or to develop social skills more generally. Goals and programs are all specific to each child’s needs.
High demand for services means that your child will probably be placed on a waitlist rather than starting with us immediately. We want to help every child we can, but our resources are limited. Our goal is to keep the waitlist as short as possible for as many people as possible. We understand that you contacted us seeking help now, which is why we offer a Start-Up Session. This aims to bridge the gap, giving you clear, practical support while you wait for an ongoing therapy spot.
There is a fee for this service.
Education and training for educators in schools and childcare centres, on application
Start-Up Sessions for parents that are waiting for individual session for their children
SPARK Multidisciplinary Therapy Intensives during the school holidays
Wine, Whinge and Wisdom Parent Catch Ups, which are free for all our Little Hands families.
ADDITIONAL SERVICES
We Also Offer
Parent information nights, which are free for all families in the community, you don’t have to be a Little Hands OT client,
Baby drop-in sessions, which are free for any parent in our community who has concerns about whether their child is developing normally.
The Story of Little Hands OT
Katharina Senger, a highly qualified paediatric occupational therapist, started Little Hands OT in August 2015. The service was initially part-time and mobile, with Katharina traveling to clients’ homes. As more children and their families wanted to work with her, the work rapidly became full-time. Time spent traveling limited the number of children Katharina could help, so she switched to clinic-based sessions, first in-house in Melba and then in Holt.
The workload continued to increase. The team grew to include admin staff, therapy assistants and then additional occupational therapists. In 2020, Little Hands moved to Luke Street near the Kippax shops. The practice has continued to grow, and the clinic facilities have expanded in 2024.

In 2025, as we approach our 10th birthday, we are proud that
We have 10 paediatric occupational therapists on the team, supported by therapy assistants and admin staff. This makes us the largest single-profession clinic in Canberra.
Our therapy assistants are all students of occupational therapy, which means high awareness of the challenges children face and a commitment to learn the latest techniques.
Our 10 treatment rooms include:
-
Dedicated rooms for infant treatment and wheelchair users
-
2 gym areas
-
A sensory room
We offer a break room for parents to relax if they’re not in therapy sessions with their kids.
